Sunny Ridge - 6PM-8:30PM - Cowboy Movie Night
About this event
October 2nd's Movie: Blazing Saddles (1974)
Greetings to all of you buckaroos and buckarettes. The summer is quickly fading into fall and things are looking good as we prepare for winter here on the ranch. We did experience and unusual occurrence the other day. Some wet saddle blankets apparently spontaneously combusted in the tack shed. What ensued was a fire that began to burn some of the blankets, saddles and bridles that were stored in the shed. A few of the hands were able to pull some of the blazing saddles and other stuff out of the shed and into the nearby corral. No serious damage was done to the shed but many of the saddles and blankets were a total loss.
Speaking of Blazing Saddles, we will be showing the comedy western classic, Blazing Saddles at the Sunny Ridge Bijou basement theater on Wednesday evening, October 2nd at 6 PM. This movie will kick off our western movie season. Some of our younger audience members may never have had a chance to view this timeless comedy classic because of the woke critics and censors. It has become a controversial film over the years but still ranks as one of the top five comedies of all time.
It is the product of comedy genius, Mel Brooks and pokes fun at just about every aspect of racial prejudices and political attitudes of the time. It was released in 1974.
This satirical take on black comedy and westerns was directed by Mel Brooks and co-written by Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, Norman Steinberg, and Alan Uger. It stars Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Alex Karras, and Slim Pickens. Running time is 93 minutes.
Snacks and beverages will be provided free of charge and rumor has it that our own chuck wagon cook will be rustling up some of his famous pumpkin bars.
Looking forward to seeing the posse, regular ranch hands and new faces.
